Summary: The play takes place in Richmond, Virginia at the end of the civil war, April of 1865. Caleb DeLeon, wounded and starving returns home to only find Simon, the old family slave, and John, a younger former slave of the family. They figure out how their relationships change with their new circumstances while celebrating Passover.
